New leaders, new members and the end of the old season

The ongoing season is coming to an end. The last week has been busy – on Thursday (04.06) we had a general assembly, where new chairman of the board, the choir major and other functionaries were elected. We also vote for a head conductor every year and nobody was surprised that maestro Alo Ritsing was re-elected once again for his 41st consecutive season. The new chairman (also known as president) will be Reidar Andreson and the position of the choir major was handed to Koit-Romet Rahupõld. We also named our new members (after one season of participation): Erik Leedjärv, Siim Tanel Tõnisson, Nils Joonas Kristjan Saar, Mihkel Aavik, Indrek Soo and our one and only Hungarian singer Laszlo Kövecses! We also honured our members Madis Jürimäe and Jako Arula for 15 terms (sevend and a half seasons) of service.
On Saturday we took part of the 35th International Hanseatic Days in Viljandi, where we had an unusually early concert at 10 o’clock AM at St John’s Church. Hence the time, the there were plenty of guests and the applause was loud enough to give a positive kick-start for our ling day. After the concert, we went on to rehearse for the local song and dance festival which took place in the evening. The day was both tiresome and awesome.
In two weeks time, we have an international boys’ (and men’s) choirs festival ESTONIA 2015 coming about in Tartu, and then we can start making our plans for the summer vacation. The new board will take up the management on August 1st and right before the new season, a group of well chosen rough-voiced representatives have a chance to participate in punk-rock song festival in Rakvere.
See you again in no time!
