The Tartu Academic Male Choir (TAM) is one of Estonia’s oldest and most prestigious male choirs, founded in 1912. The choir’s roots lie deep in the student life of the University of Tartu, and for decades it has upheld Estonia’s choral music traditions both at home and abroad.
TAM is known for its high artistic quality, bold repertoire choices, and strong fraternal spirit. The choir is led by professional conductors, under whose direction performances have included both classical choral works and contemporary large-scale compositions, often in collaboration with orchestras and soloists.
In addition to its musical activities, TAM also plays an important role in Estonian cultural life more broadly, participating in national celebrations and representing Estonia at international competitions and festivals.
The Tartu Academic Male Choir (TAM) released a new album this week, based on folk texts from Northern and Southern Estonia. This is the choir’s first album after a 17-year hiatus.
